Jennifer Moxon, IBM's Australia/New Zealand director, distribution and industrial sector , has been appointed as managing director for IBM New Zealand. She will be based in Wellington when she takes up the role on April 1.
Moxon says her base in the capital city was a personal decision, as her husband was born and raised there.
However, she will travel frequently between Wellington and Auckland, and plans to meet all key business partners prior to starting in the job.
"I want to get a perspective on how IBM can help them be more successful and what their priorities are," she says.
Moxon has been with IBM since 1983 and has held a number of senior roles in both Australia and New Zealand, including government manager for IBM New Zealand, South Island manager and Australian client director for IBM’s business relationships in the telecommunications industry.
She replaces Katrina Troughton, who took up a new role last month as WebSphere director based in Shanghai, China.
Troughton says Moxon is a highly respected and successful sales leader.
“She brings a great depth of experience across multiple industries and sectors and is an excellent choice as IBM NZ’s new leader.”
Moxon says she is looking forward to returning to New Zealand.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to lead our business in New Zealand at a time when IBM is articulating a compelling vision for the future and when the current economic environment provides an opportunity for forward-thinking companies to move ahead of the competition.”
Moxon was born in the UK, but grew up in Christchurch. She is a graduate of Victoria University with degrees in business and psychology.
