Citrix has acquired New Zealand-based software company, EMS-Cortex, for an undisclosed sum.
The announcement was made in blog by Citrix cloud app delivery group vice-president and general manager, Bill Burley.
EMS-Cortex specialises in cloud service provisioning and management software.
“Our partners have been giving us rave reviews about how the Cortex Cloud Control Panel makes it easy for service providers and their customers to setup, provision and maintain a wide variety of hosted services from a single interface,” Burley highlighted in his blog. “When that many customers tell you a tool is ‘must have’ for running their cloud services, it’s clearly something you have to check out for yourself.
“Once we started taking a closer look at the Cortex technology, and the people behind it, we knew we wanted them to be a part of the Citrix family.”
In the short term, Citrix plans to offer Cortex Cloud Control Panel as a standalone product on a subscription basis.
Cortex can be integrated with Citrix XenApp and also supports the full suite of Microsoft products such as Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Dynamics CRM and Virtual Server Hosting with Hyper-V.
The news comes on the back of Citrix creating a new product team, called the Cloud App Delivery Group, which is placing a strong focus on developing products, programs and best practise for Citrix service providers. Burley boasts it has more than 800 certified cloud providers.
“This new group will be working closely with all the other product groups at Citrix to extend our range of solutions for hosted cloud services,” Burley said.
