Spark NZ cloud telco business Digital Island has acquired the telecommunications unit of Outsource Communications, a provider of PABX and telco services to business clients since 2003.

The Outsource Communications business will operate under the Digital Island brand and offer the full range of telecommunications services and capabilities of Digital Island to customers of both.

“Our service proposition is underpinned by investment in Mitel’s unified communications as a service platform so by combining our local experience with innovative global technology, we are able to assist our clients on their digital transformation journey," said Digital Island general manager Leon Sheehan.

"We believe a cloud first-mobile first philosophy will help NZ businesses win big in this digital world."

Digital Island, a specialist cloud PABX and unified communications as a service provider, is looking to build on its market position and accelerate growth.

"I believe Digital Island will enhance our customer experience by offering them new and innovative cloud and mobility solutions along with proven customer service and support," said Outsource Communications director Harvie Byrnes.

The remainder of OCL will continue to specialise in data cabling, fibre optic installation, civil and CCTV solutions.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
