Auckland-based software-as-a-service company Unleashed Software is promoting general manager Lisa Miles-Heal to global chief operating officer.

Miles-Heal has been with inventory management specialist Unleashed since 2014, firstly as chief technology officer and more recently as general manager driving the company's overseas expansion.

After a successful beachhead in the United Kingdom to grow the UK and EMEA markets, Miles-Heal has re-located to Bristol to lead and grow the team there.

CEO Gareth Berry said she displayed the type of leadership that focuses teams to deliver strong and consistent results.

"Lisa is the type of leader that does not take the limelight," Berry said. "She is a ‘doer’, an executer, a leader and a challenger of the status quo that any CEO would be privileged to have in their team.”

The appointment follows closely another successful year, Berry said.

“Our growth over the last year has been fueled by strong customer acquisition in offshore markets including the UK, EMEA and Australia," Berry said.

Unleashed had reported turnover of $6.5 million in 2018. It integrates with several other major SaaS systems including Xero, Shopify and Salesforce.

Major shareholders are VC fund Movac with 33.5 per cent and Instanz Australia with 23.7 per cent.

"Given the UK market’s increasing adoption of cloud technologies, scaling our UK operations initially from a beachhead to a strong team focusing across the entire customer value chain made perfect sense."

Target medium and large wholesale, distribution, and manufacturing businesses are now adopting a “cloud first” approach for their management software to gain a competitive edge and compelling ROI, Berry said.

Miles-Heal said growth in the UK has exceeded all targets as the local team had done a fantastic job acquiring, retaining and supporting our customers.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
