Exeed enters mobile market with Motorola distributorship

Exeed pursues an opportunity to add more value than traditional logistics-based distribution

New Zealand distributor Exeed is entering the mobile distribution market through a deal with a revived Motorola.

Managing director Justin Tye said the shift is part of a strategy to offer a range of services to the channel, particularly for small and medium enterprises.

Two of Motorola's newest models will be distributed alongside other parts of the mobility puzzle, such as laptops and tablets, he said.

Access to mobile phone products is now being opened up to distributors outside of the "3PL" space, he said. 3PL stands for third party logistics, the traditional mode by which major telcos manage their mobile supply chains.

Tye said there was an opportunity to add more value outside of that model and Motorola was hopefully the start of that for Exeed.

"It's not a carrier-defined market," he said.

Motorola had relevant technology and some good patents attached to its devices providing a point of difference in the market, he said. At the same time, the phones run the same apps as other Android devices.

It was a laptops plus mobility story, Tye said.

"The mobile workforce will look for laptops and mobile hand-in-hand - or possibly a tablet," Tye said. "The lines are now blurring."

The offer can help make users more useful and productive and at the same time make Exeed as a distributor more relevant as well, he said.

If there was demand for preconfiguration, Exeed would look to provide that as well.

Motorola is launching its Moto g7, Moto g7 power and Moto g7 plus in new Zealand in partnership with Exeed.

The Moto g7 family offers ultrawide 6.2-inch Max Vision Full HD+ displays alongside other innovations. The retail price for the entry level Moto g7 power with up to three days of usage is $429.

The range’s top tier offering, the Moto g7 plus, with enhanced front and rear camera capabilities, is priced at NZ$579, exclusively from PB Tech.

It has also launched its new One Vision smartphone in New Zealand in-store with PB Tech via Exeed.

The device is also available online at Noel Leeming, The Warehouse and Warehouse Stationery, retailing at NZ$599. The Motorola One Vision boasts a 48MP rear-camera with quad pixel technology, optical image stabilisation and night vision mode among other drawcards.
