Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was "cheering for New Zealand" in cricket

A campaign to bring Satya Nadella to New Zealand has turned up a supporter for the Black Caps and a new fan for Kane Williamson.

Local cloud specialist and Microsoft partner The Instillery has mounted a campaign to bring Nadella to New Zealand.

That invitation was relayed to Nadella at a Women in Technology session at Microsoft's Inspire conference in the US by Vanessa Sorenson, enterprise director at Microsoft NZ.

And here's what happened:

On being told Sir Richard Hadlee sent his best wishes, Nadella said: "Take my message to Kane Williamson, I thought he was the best player of the tournament. I was cheering for New Zealand."

"We heard that Satya likes Cloud, and Aotearoa, meaning 'The Land of the Long White Cloud'," The Instillery explained in a LinkedIn post.

"We also really like cloud. And we heard Satya was a bit of a cricket fan, so we arranged a special gift for him that cannot be bought…" (video embedded below)

The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
