Specialist cloud services company Lucidity Cloud Services has acquired managed services provider XSYS IT in a cash deal.

The buyout adds 77 new customers and increases staff numbers to 32, Lucidity said today. The acquisition price was not disclosed.

Former XSYS IT CEO Simon Rowan takes up the role of operations manager within the Lucidity senior management team.

Lucidity’s founder and CEO, Paul O’Brien, said the acquisition adds significantly to Lucidity’s customer list.

XSYS IT customers include Kitchen Mania, Augusta Capital and RLB Packaging while existing large Lucidity customers include real estate companies Professionals and Prestige Realty, chartered accountants Chapman Atkins, Travel Company NZ Travel Brokers, and large ANZ fresh produce marketing and distribution company, Freshmax.

The strategy behind the acquisition was to expand Lucidity’s 24/7 onsite engineering and customer support capability to complement its remote support operation, O'Brien said.

Lucidity, which until rebranded in 2016 was known as MHA Cloud Computing, was now a medium-sized managed services provider with a growth strategy that includes organic growth and further acquisitions, he said.

“Over the past year or so Lucidity has grown strongly. One of the biggest drivers of that growth is our unique Lucidity 365 service."

O'Brien said businesses see Lucidity 365 as a fast and easy way to increase productivity because they can see every application from any device and just click on the one they want. Single sign-on password management takes them straight in.

"They don’t have to remember different passwords or search for the app they need," O'Brien said.

Lucidity 365 is also being sold through partner Fuji Xerox.

This month Lucidity moved into new premises three times the size of its previous headquarters, enabling the launch of new services such as hot desks for out of town customers.

A flexible space can also be turned into temporary customer offices to assist with disaster recovery.

A dedicated training room fit out is underway, offering a variety of training programs on modern cloud solutions like Office 365 and Lucidity 365.

A new demo facility features the new telephony and conferencing solutions available around Microsoft Teams.

Lucidity, founded in 2003, is a Microsoft Gold Partner and a tier-1 Microsoft CSP Provider, offering Microsoft Windows, Azure and Office 365 technology.

XSYS IT was founded in 2007 by engineers Allan Barlow and Simon Rowan. It is a managed IT service provider specialising in disaster recovery, cloud computing, unified communications, hosted IP telephony and virtualisation.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
