Unified communications provider 8x8 has appointed Michelle Marlan as senior manager for channel and alliances in Australia and New Zealand following the departure of Steve Shaw after five months.

Marlan joins the unified communications provider from Genesys where she was most recently a senior director for customer success for Asia Pacific.

"Michelle has a broad range of skills, including customer experience and channel partner roles at companies of various sizes where she has been instrumental in providing the vision, strategy and leadership to help customers succeed," 8x8 VP for APAC Brendan Maree said.

She will be based in Melbourne and have the responsibility of supporting the growth of its network of partners. Marlan said she will work with partners through both strategic and tactical initiatives to drive long-term growth

"We’ve been searching for someone with that rare mix of exceptional interpersonal and management skills, as well as the technical knowledge and expertise to support our channel partner business," Maree added.

"With Michelle on board, I’m confident we can scale and grow and deliver our technology vision to an ever-growing number of customers across Australia and New Zealand."

In January, 8x8 appointed former Oracle executive Steve Shaw to the channel and alliances role. At the time, Maree said Shaw would bring "considerable industry experience and skills leadership in the channel" to help bolster its ongoing commitment to working with partners.
