The Auckland-based information services arm of accounting and business advisers BDO has merged with cloud integrator Alt Shift.
Craig Gower, head of BDO Information Systems, said the combined business is focusing on software solutions that are directly aimed at small-to-medium sized businesses.
"Alt Shift specialises in this market, specifically in the areas of retail, fashion, manufacturing and franchises, so together we can offer an unparalleled level of expertise for small-to-medium sized businesses and can offer solutions that grow with them," Gower said.
Alt Shift specialises in Xero and add-on products and both it and BDO are Xero platinum partners.
Alt Shift's' website now carries the subtitle "A division of BDO Information Systems" but the entity's shareholding has not yet changed. Gower said the brand would continue to operate.
Shareholding changes were pending that would see Alt Shift founder Josh Ambler, now listed on BDO's website as business development manager, become a minority shareholder in BDO Information Systems, Gower said.
BDO Information Systems is majority owned by the BDO accounting firm's partners through a trust arrangement.
Ambler said as Xero platinum partners Altshift and BDO were perfectly placed to provide a full range of cloud software solutions.
"We really look forward to working together and believe that our clients will gain a huge advantage from this merger," he said.
