Insurer Suncorp New Zealand has named 13-year company veteran Jane Brewer as its new executive general manager of technology, data and labs.
Brewer's appointment follows the departure of Terry Gaze at the end of 2018, with plans in place to assume the new role at the end of the month.
Brewer will be responsible for leading Suncorp New Zealand's technology teams as they support the business and joint ventures to meet strategic and growth targets.
Suncorp NZ, which also owns the AA Insurance and Vero brands, reported $1.5 billion of revenue for the year ended 30 June 2018 and a net profit after tax of $108 million.
Brewer has held a variety of leadership roles in the technology and claims teams in her time with Suncorp NZ. She also brings more than 20 years’ experience as a technology and business leader in the financial services team.
“I’m excited to be join the Technology and Suncorp New Zealand senior leadership teams as we work in partnership to elevate the customer experience and further digitise the New Zealand business in an evolving industry," Brewer said.
Gaze led changes including the creation of a flexible working environment at the insurer after the technology team adopted Agile a few years earlier.
CIO reported that Suncorp worked with Nutanix to help ensure the technological resources to enable staff to work remotely were available at all times.
This includes Nutanix Enterprise Cloud OS software to support Suncorp’s Citrix virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) delivering 700 virtual desktops.
