Darryl Grauman has unveiled plans to vacate his role as vice president of cloud strategy at Westcon, exiting the distributor after almost seven years.

Reseller News can reveal that Grauman will leave the business on 12 April, after working through an extended notice period.

“Westcon gave me an amazing opportunity to learn, to grow personally and to innovate regionally and globally,” Grauman told Reseller News. “We have created an amazing start-up business inside of the greater Westcon, providing value in ways that no distributor has done before.”

Grauman - who joined the business in May 2012 - was responsible for the planning, creating and executing of the distributor’s cloud efforts, with a focus on the recruitment of independent software vendors (ISVs) and born-in-the-cloud partners.

“The Asia Pacific cloud leadership team has been nothing short of superb, I'm so lucky to have worked with such a talented group of people,” Grauman added. “Our Cloud Customer Success Centre in Auckland which services all of APAC is unique, they speak six languages and provide the core of our cloud value to our resellers.

“Our innovation culture and ability to pick winners has seen us work with ISVs such as Cloudyn, N2W, Ngnix and Dome9, years before they were bought by Microsoft, Veeam, F5 and Checkpoint."

Going forward, Grauman told Reseller News that he will “take some time off” before assessing his next move.

“We wish Darryl well and appreciate his contributions,” said Patrick Aronson, executive vice president of Asia Pacific at Westcon-Comstor. “Cloud has become a much more integrated part of our core business. The skills and capabilities for success in cloud are now getting spread across the entire management, technical and go-to-market teams.

“We're quite excited about where Westcon is heading with cloud and the growth we continue to see as a value-added distributor who manages both cloud only solutions and hybrid technologies that are developing a cloud offer.”
