Juniper Networks unveils ‘connected’ security architecture

Partners with vendors such as Nutanix and Aruba to roll out new framework

Networking vendor Juniper Networks has rolled out a new security architecture that will connect and operate with an enterprise customer's existing stack of products.

Named ‘Juniper Connected Security’, the open platform automates and integrates security technologies from multiple vendors in a move away from cyber security products operating in a ‘vacuum’.

According to Juniper, the new architecture will automate monitoring activity in a business’s network, from "the edge and every cloud in-between”, filtering through its data to verify potential cyber threats.

In order to leverage the connected framework, Juniper has partnered with Carbon Black, Aerohive and Aruba to help secure user endpoints, alongside Nutanix and Red Hat to help grow the vendor's data centre footprint.

“Information security cannot be separated from the everyday operation of IT,” said Samantha Madrid, vice president of security business and strategy at Juniper Networks, in a company blog post.

“The deployment  configuration and management of every component is inextricable from security. Effectively and efficiently securing today's organisations requires multiple layers of security working together.”

Madrid's post also noted that most enterprises, whether moderate in size and sophistication, will be multi-vendor.

"This inter-connectivity will have implications," she added. "A security monoculture is a single point of failure. Only by working together can we hope to effectively and efficiently defend our networks."

Juniper's security division saw 18 per cent growth for the financial year ending 31 December amid a “disappointing” eight per cent revenue slump across the board.

The uplift came a year after Juniper bought Cyphort, a US start-up offering advanced threat detection, analytics and mitigation platform.
