Former Oracle ERP and applications senior sales manager Steve Shaw has joined unified communications provider 8x8 as its new A/NZ senior channel and alliances manager.

Shaw will be based in Sydney and is responsible for building and managing a team of 8x8 channel partners within the region.

He maintains more than 20 years experience in the IT industry and was previously senior sales manager for ERP and applications at Oracle where he was responsible for new business development in NSW.

Before Oracle he was the A/NZ sales director for enterprise and government at Avaya and also worked as enterprise sales manager at Optus. His resume also features stints at Gtech, Telstra and LexisNexis.

“I am looking forward to using my knowledge and understanding of how to propel channel enablement to support and differentiate our channel partners, while adding significant value to our customers, and simultaneously maintaining partner profitability and rewarding performance,” Shaw said.

8x8 Asia Pacific vice president Brendan Maree added Shaw will bring considerable industry experience and skills leadership in the channel, which will help bolster its ongoing commitment to working with partners.

“We look forward to the positive impact he will have in enabling our channel partners to realise end user customer value in using one cloud technology platform for both employee and customer communications,” Maree said.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
