Stuart Rees has returned to Software AG after 10 years to take on the vice president for Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) role.

Rees took over the role in July, replacing Brenton Smith who departed in May after serving as the VP for the regions for one year.

Software AG is bringing the industry veteran back to strengthen the local business as it grows the A/NZ team by 25 per cent.

“The ANZ region has huge market potential and I’m excited to be joining Software AG which has market-leading technologies in the area of integration, application management, the internet of things (IoT) and data analytics, which are key to running many digital transformation projects,” said Rees.

“I look forward to working closely with our customers and partners to successfully execute on our business strategy.”

This is Rees second stint with the vendor; he first held the same role from April 2008 to October 2009.

He has more than 25 years of experience in the industry holding senior executive positions in companies including IBM, Tibco Software and JDA Software.

"The experience in enterprise software and in the ICT industry will be essential in accelerating the adoption of our Digital Business Platform," said Mike Saxton, regional vice president at Software AG Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) about Rees appointment.

"His skills in building and leading world-class sales teams will be invaluable as we look to grow our customer base in Australia and New Zealand," Saxton added.

Software AG has also appointed Mark Fitzsimons to the role of vice president, head of IoT GTM centre of expertise for APJ.

Fitzsimons has more than 20 years of experience in enterprise software sales. He held leadership roles in companies including Oracle, PTC and Infor.
