GHD Digital, a business unit of Australian professional services firm GHD, has entered into a partnership with Orange Business Services (OBS) to deliver an IoT-as-a-service model to businesses in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ).

Aimed at mining, transport, water and smart city firms, the partnership will blend data and insights from GHD Digital with analytics platforms supplied by OBS, the B2B branch of global telecommunications provider Orange Group.

The partnership will simplify and speed up the ‘labour intensive’ process with which businesses record and track statistics and data, according to GHD.

These statistics will relate to the movement of materials and assets at a construction site, monitor staffing, logistics, plus inventory and safety.

“Major infrastructure is primed for digital disruption," said Kumar Parakala, global digital lead at GHD. "However, clients face a range of challenges, from constrained bandwidth and connectivity to matching the hype of digital technologies with operational outcomes.

"Our alliance will provide clients with the insights they need to drive the transformation of their business.”

Founded in 1928 and headquartered in Sydney, GHD now operates across Asia-Pacific, Europe, North and South America, employing more than 10,000 people.

Earlier this year, GHD launched its digital transformation arm, GHD Digital, in an effort to provide consultancy services on cyber security and risk, digital strategy and transformation, smart technology services, digital innovation and data and analytics.
