Tim Jackson (SSS – IT Security Specialists)
SSS – IT Security Specialists has appointed Tim Jackson as chief architect, as part of widespread plans to enhance technical capabilities in New Zealand.
Jackson joins the Wellington-based provider with more than 18 years of industry experience, spanning both public and private sector markets.
Previously, Jackson was chief architect at ACC New Zealand for two years, having previously held chief technology officer and solutions architect roles at Dimension Data during a six-year stint.
“We are excited to have Tim on-board,” said Ashton Jones, general manager of SSS, when speaking to Reseller News. “It is important to us that we hire the best talent in the IT security industry.”
According to Ashton, Jackson will be tasked with providing “strategic direction and advice” to help the provider expand relationships with key customers and prospects, in addition to developing managed security solution offerings.
“Tim’s senior level architecture and chief technology officer experience, as well as his strong relationship management, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, will help us build upon our existing end-to-end services, develop new services that meet customer demands, and complement our existing specialist skill-set,” Ashton added.
As explained by Ashton, Jackson’s previous experience involved leading a project to implement desktop-as-a-service for all of government, alongside spearheading the architecture for a shared services organisation project for three local Wellington councils.
Furthermore, Jackson - who will be based in Wellington - has expertise in delivering the architecture of a telecommunications-as-a-service project, while improving governance at a large government organisation.
“Tim is committed and passionate about delivering sustainable and effective client outcomes through gaining a clear understanding of customer needs,” Ashton added. “He is a futurist who considers IT security an integral element in good architecture.”
Jackson joins an expanding team at SSS, consisting of specialists across PKI, identity management, governance, risk and compliance.
The appointment comes two months after SSS unveiled a new alliance with vArmour in New Zealand, leveraging distribution to deploy tailored security offerings to customers.
Through specialist distributor Katana Technologies, SSS will bring the vendor’s suite of solutions to market locally, spanning application discovery, security policy computation, and micro-segmentation.
