Citrix veteran assumes trans-Tasman leadership position

Citrix has appointed Erin Butler as new vice president of Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), replacing Les Williamson who departed after 18 months in the top role.

Butler hails from the US, having spent more than 12 years with Citrix in a variety channel management roles, having most recently held the position of chief of staff and chief revenue officer.

As revealed by ARN, Williamson vacated the position in August, having held responsibility for executing the vendor’s corporate cloud strategy, alongside delivering consistent growth across all sectors of the local business.

In the meantime, Citrix senior vice president and managing director of Asia Pacific and Japan, Stanimira Koleva, has exited the vendor.

Koleva spent just over two years with Citrix and previously held senior management roles with Microsoft and Cisco.

As a result, ARN can confirm that former SAP executive Colin Brookes has joined the vendor as new vice president of sales and services and will be based in Singapore.

"Delighted to be able to join Citrix at this pivotal moment as it looks to drive growth and adoption of its ground breaking solutions that make the world's data and applications secure and easy to access," wrote Brookes, via social media.

Brookes spent more than four years at SAP and was most recently the president and managing director for A/NZ, prior to his departure this year.

In addition, Brookes was replaced by Damien Bueno, who took charge of the billion-dollar business spanning both sides of the Tasman, driven by strong cloud sales during the past 12 months.

Despite leadership changes both locally and regionally, from a channel perspective, little is expected to change for Citrix in the local market, with the vendor recently overhauling its distribution strategy in Australia.

As reported by ARN, Citrix parted ways with Tech Data to streamline distribution strategies.

Consequently, Dicker Data was appointed as the distributor for the Citrix reseller business locally, joining Rhipe with access to the Citrix Solution Provider (CSP) portfolio.

Specifically, the CSP program is designed for service providers who provide and/or resell hosted software services to end-user customers.

The decision followed a nationwide distribution review for the vendor, which only involved the Australian market.
