Tableau taps Dell EMC talent for trans-Tasman channel role

Tableau Software has appointed Chris Moyle as senior manager of channels and alliances across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), recruiting the industry veteran from Dell EMC.

Effective 8 October, Moyle is tasked with growing the vendor’s channel footprint locally, building out an ecosystem of partners in the process.

The appointment of such channel expertise offers the clearest indication yet that Tableau is building out indirect capabilities on both sides of the Tasman, driven by a core network of resellers, service providers and advisors.

“It's time for a change,” wrote Moyle, via social media. “I’m very excited to be taking up the role and I look forward to catching up with you soon in my new role.”

In joining Tableau, Moyle exits Dell EMC after more than 19 years, having joined EMC in 1999, before the vendor’s acquisition by Dell in 2016.

In taking up the role, Moyle vacates his position as territory partner sales manager across A/NZ, in addition to running enablement and channel program functions.

Prior to this, Moyle held a number of channel-focused roles for almost two decades locally, spanning distribution, sales development and partner enablement.

The appointment of Moyle comes four months after Tableau partnered with Swinburne University of Technology to launch a hands-on course in business analytics and data visualisation.

Specifically, the course will be offered through the university’s Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship (AGSE) as part of the Master of Digital Business Management (MDBM) degree.

The partnership aims to raise awareness about the use of data analytics in everyday business scenarios and help to narrow the gap when it comes to data skills among Australian graduates and the increased requirement for data driven decision making.

“The demand for talent with data literacy skills continues to rise in Australia, and with severe shortages in this area there is a burning need to look at ways to narrow this gap,” said Nigel Mendonca country manager of A/NZ at Tableau, when speaking at the time of the launch.

“Collaboration between the government, private sector and educators is essential to up-skill the workforce of today and embed data literacy in the workforce of tomorrow.

“We look forward to working with Swinburne to empower more Australians with analytics skills to make rapid, insightful decisions at a time where the growth in data is exploding and will continue to do so in the years ahead.”
