Atlas Gentech has been acquired by Anixter International, with the global distributor of network and security solutions taking control of local operations.

Reseller News can reveal that the Auckland-based business struck the deal less than four weeks ago - somewhat quietly - with the transaction closing before the end of June 2018.

The acquisition also includes Central Security Distribution and Inner Range, specialist distributors based in Australia, which are part-owned by the management team of Atlas Gentech.

Headquartered in Illinois, US, Anixter is a Fortune 500 company with annual revenues in excess of US$7.9 billion, specialising in the supply of wire, call, networking, security and utility power solutions.

Specifically, the distributor helps the channel “build, connect, protect and power” valuable assets and critical infrastructures, spanning enterprise networks, video surveillance and electric power distribution.

“For our valued partners, it remains business as usual,” said Andrew Moss, CEO of Atlas Gentech,

Atlas Gentech is a nationwide provider of technology solutions, operating in the Kiwi market since launching in 1972.

Reseller News understands that the current team of around 75 staff - including account managers, technical sales, marketing, technical support, customer support, trade counter and warehouse teams - will continue in the roles as usual.

From a day-to-day perspective, Moss said current partners will not have to open a new trading account with the distributor, with the “only change” relating to the ownership of the company.

“Myself and the entire team will continue working for Atlas Gentech and we look forward to working with you to further strengthen our deep long-term relationship,” Moss added.

“What’s exciting is this acquisition will likely bring additional opportunities and we look forward to sharing these with you over the coming months.

“We look forward to our continued commitment to a strong and mutually beneficial relationship and an exciting future for us all.”

With more than 600,000 products - totalling over $1 billion in inventory - Anixter operates from over 300 cities in approximating 50 countries, trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
