Deloitte deal brings Google Cloud and SAP alliance to life

Consultancy giant houses 18,000 SAP practitioners in over 135 countries

Deloitte has tapped into an expanding alliance between Google Cloud and SAP to drive further cloud adoption across the enterprise.

The consultancy house - fresh from merging Asia Pacific operations - will migrate SAP applications to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), as part of cloud migration and management services.

Billed as a “triple play of value”, the combined offering will target critical business processes, in addition to modernising core infrastructures and managing hyper-scale cloud operations.

“With over 18,000 SAP practitioners in over 135 countries, Deloitte's worldwide SAP practice has the talent, resources and experience to lead in the marketplace," said Jan Waals, global SAP practice leader at Deloitte.

“Coupled with Deloitte being a Google Cloud services premier partner and technology partner, our firm is at the forefront of this game-changing technology.”

Waals said Deloitte will provide a “full suite” of solutions for running SAP applications on GCP, including an invoice management solution, which will automate invoice processing within an SAP environment.

In addition, other offerings include a visual inspection solution, capable of automating the visual inspection process and accelerate inventory restocking.

“Deloitte and SAP are valuable advisors to the world's top brands, and we are looking forward to collectively helping customers in their journey to the cloud," added Kevin Ichhpurani, corporate vice president of strategic partnerships at Google Cloud.

“This collaboration allows us to bring our collective expertise to customers across industries, accelerating innovation and delivering real business value.”

From a technology perspective, GCP is certified to run SAP workloads, which includes S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, Business Suite, Business Warehouse, alongside applications such as Hybris, Business One, Solution Manager and Business Objects BI Suite.

The alliance comes 18 months after Google Cloud announced an applications partnership with SAP, in a move designed to position the tech giant as a serious cloud contender within the enterprise.

Unveiled during Google Cloud Next in March 2017, the partnership exposes Google Cloud to more than 125 million subscribers within the SAP cloud user base, with the SAP HANA platform housing over 5,200 start-up developers, alongside more than 560 partners globally.

The roll-out comes just days after Deloitte in Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan and Southeast Asia unveiled plans to come together to create Deloitte Asia Pacific, forming a consultancy powerhouse across the region.

As reported by Reseller News, the move will allow for greater investment and focus on Deloitte's customers across the region.

Together, the five geographies will invest an additional US$321 million over the next three years, designed to enhance Deloitte's ability to serve global, national and private market customers.
