AWS taps Microsoft talent to lead trans-Tasman channel charge

Corrie Briscoe joins AWS following a regional position at Microsoft

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has appointed Corrie Briscoe as channel leader across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), recruiting the partner specialist from Microsoft.

In assuming a channel-facing role at the tech giant, ARN understands that Briscoe - who has yet to officially start - will directly replace Stefan Jansen, who switched roles in April.

Briscoe joins AWS following a regional position at Microsoft, in which the channel expert held the role of director of partner development.

With close to 20 years experience in technology channel sales, Briscoe brings deep knowledge across the global system integrator (GSI), system integrator and independent software vendor (ISV) ecosystems.

“I have a history of driving change through sales and partner organisations, with a keen interest in new channel ecosystems and challenging the way organisations engage, enable and reward partners,” wrote Briscoe, via a personal profile on LinkedIn.

Before joining Microsoft in December 2014, Briscoe spent more than 14 years at Cisco, in a range of regional management roles in the channel.

During this tenure, Briscoe worked closely with service providers, GSIs and ISVs, rising up through the tech giant’s ranks since 2000.

The recruitment of Briscoe comes weeks after Frederic Viet stepped into a new role as a strategic partner lead at AWS locally.

As reported by ARN, the move sees Viet return to Australia from France, where he was channel director for Veritas Technologies, a role he held from mid-2016 until at least May this year.

Furthermore, Briscoe joins the vendor three months after Jansen was named as AWS’ new head of training and certification across A/NZ.

As also reported by ARN, the move came after more than four years at the helm of the vendor’s channel business on both sides of the Tasman, first as partner business development manager and from early 2015, as head of channels and alliances.

Similar to Briscoe, Jansen came to AWS from Microsoft, where he held a number of roles over several years, including the position of head of Dynamics partner sales for just over three years prior to his move to the cloud services provider in 2013.

AWS did not respond to requests for a comment from ARN
