Chillisoft has appointed Alex Teh as CEO in New Zealand, as the specialist distributor embarks on expansion plans across the channel.
Reseller News can reveal that the distribution expert joins the Auckland-based company from Exclusive Networks, effective immediately.
With more than 20 years experience in IT sales and marketing, Teh subsequently vacates his role as general manager of BigTec in New Zealand and Pacific, the data centre division of Exclusive Networks.
“Alex has a very successful track record with channel, vendors and customers in our specialist cyber security niche,” said Geoff Cossey, founder and managing director of Chillisoft, when speaking exclusively to Reseller News.
“His primary focus will be commercial, initially exploring growth opportunities with existing channel and vendors but also considering new complementary products and services where appropriate.”
According to Cossey, Teh - who developed a similar sized distributor in the UK before returning to New Zealand two years ago - will bring “fresh energy and ideas” to Chillisoft, as the company celebrates 20 years of operations.
“Over time I expect Alex to assume wider responsibilities,” Cossey added. “In an increasingly complex field, Alex's ability to understand and articulate cyber security issues and solutions will be valuable to partners and vendors.”
Founded in 1998, Chillisoft is a specialist cyber security distributor, with more than 1,000 partners across New Zealand, with a strong background in ESET solutions and services.
“Chillisoft is a well known distributor in the New Zealand market who has been servicing Kiwi partners for over 15 years,” Teh told Reseller News.
“This platform provides me with a great opportunity to apply my full set of entrepreneurial skills with a view of expending the business.
“We will do this by adding complimentary products to the ESET product range whilst maintaining a vendor level technical experience to the partners we work with.”
Chillisoft is the sole distributor of ESET in New Zealand, with deep expertise in the end-point market locally.
“We are planning to do an ESET roadshow in the near future,” Teh said. “In addition we will introduce quarterly certified training for our partners.
“We are also looking at adding pen-testing services and security audits for our partners to resell. We will be speaking to a number of vendors that are looking for a more dynamic and nimble distributor that can be a true technical extension of their business.”
From a channel enablement standpoint, Teh said Chillisoft will also aim to provide first and second line support, including training, pre-sales and proof of concept services.
“Challenger brands that are looking for more than a quote and credit from their distributors should get in contact with us,” Teh added.
