Stuff takes 100 per cent control of start-up ISP

Start up was launched jointly with Giant Management Limited in 2016

Stuff has acquired 100 per cent ownership of internet service provider (ISP), Stuff Fibre, as part of plans to expand into the wider market across New Zealand.

Operating as an unlimited data, fibre-only ISP, the start up was launched jointly with Giant Management Limited in 2016, with GML shareholder Sam Morse as CEO.

“We are very pleased to be able to bring Stuff Fibre fully into the Stuff fold and look forward to continuing to build a great internet service for New Zealanders,” Stuff CEO, Sinead Boucher, said.

Boucher said the purchase brings forward Stuff’s existing options to acquire shares in the business, and “reflects the confidence” the business has in the future of the brand.

Stuff Fibre provides fibre connections for residential customers, along with a no fixed term contract and local customer service.

Most recently, the ISP added capabilities through venturing into pay-per-view movie streaming service, Stuff Pix, providing customers with the ability to choose one movie a month, from an increased selection of releases.

“Having been in the industry for many years we saw the need to design a product from the ground up,” Stuff Fibre CEO, Sam Morse, added.

“I’m immensely proud of what the team has achieved - an award-winning provider reaching the highest net promoter score in the industry.

“To achieve such excellence, everything from our technology, customer experience, marketing and commercial operations delivered on our promise to provide Kiwis with a better, simpler internet and premium content experience.”

Stuff Fibre is available in every region across New Zealand where fibre is available, as per the government roll out plan, starting at $49 a month.
