TeamTalk expands capabilities with Nokia reseller deal

TeamTalk will also use Nokia's backhaul network solution for new digital radio system

TeamTalk has signed a partnership agreement with Nokia in New Zealand, in which the provider will resell equipment, software and services.

Terms of the deal will also see both parties work together on delivering solutions focusing on services spanning communications, emergency and connected offerings, alongside wireless technologies, private LTE and the internet of things (IoT).

TeamTalk will also use Nokia's IP/MPLS backhaul network solution for its new digital radio system.

“Today, a substantial portion of the New Zealand market is not adequately covered by a mobile network, and this raises issues for emergency service responders,” TeamTalk CEO, Andrew Miller, said.

“Our goal is to deploy a country-wide solution that will provide critical communications to the majority of New Zealand's emergency services. We found Nokia to have the right product set and partnerships to make this project a reality.”

Miller said TeamTalk, which has been operating in New Zealand for the past twenty years, is looking to transition from a pure network vendor into a critical and resilient communications service provider.

As a result, the partnership with Nokia will allow TeamTalk to deliver emergency service vehicle edge, private LTE and IoT technologies to New Zealand.

“The depth and breadth of our technology expertise and significant presence in the New Zealand market were the determining factors for TeamTalk to partner with us,” Nokia head of transportation, energy and public sector across Asia Pacific, Stuart Mac Hendry, added.

From a Nokia perspective, Hendry said the partnership will also help the vendor increase presence across key sectors across the country, including emerging services, transport, airports, ports and utilities.
