Louis Tague has been appointed as managing director for FireEye across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), exiting his role leading Veritas Technologies in the process.

Tague replaces Richard Metcalfe who left the role of regional director A/NZ with FireEye in January, joining security automation and orchestration start-up Phantom, which has been recently acquired by Splunk.

Metcalfe now holds the regional sales director for Asia Pacific and Japan with Splunk.

Meanwhile, Tague joined Veritas in 2004 as an account manager, coming through the vendor's acquisition by Symantec to be appointed as sales director in 2015, before being promoted less than a year later to managing director for A/NZ.

Tague replaced Paul Simos at the time, who left to join EMC as its Victorian enterprise and Government sales director.

During his tenure, Tague was responsible for business development initiatives on both sides of the Tasman, with a remit to also expand the vendor's growing ecosystem of partners.

From an industry perspective, Tague has more than 20 years of experience in the market, having worked for companies including IBM, Fuji Xerox and Symantec.

Following Tague's departure, Veritas has since appointed former Nutanix A/NZ country manager Howard Fyffe as its new managing director for A/NZ, replacing Tague in the role.

Meanwhile in February, FireEye revealed that it spent US$12.5 million in net legal settlement costs during the three months ending December 2017, the first quarter in which the company has turned an adjusted profit since going public in 2013.
