How Consegna created cloud credibility through AWS

In assessing the expanding ecosystem of partners aligned to Amazon Web Services (AWS) in New Zealand, it’s difficult to know where to start.

Such is the depth and breadth of the Kiwi channel, a channel growing by the month as businesses continue to increase deployments of cloud-based technologies.

For a country widely regarded as a Microsoft shop - loyal to Redmond and therefore, presumably, aligned to Azure - the AWS story is catching fire at startling speed.

Unsurprising perhaps, given the tech giant’s formidable global market share, but encouraging nonetheless for developers, integrators, resellers and providers building offerings around the platform.

Rising high alongside AWS in New Zealand is Consegna, an Auckland-based start-up setting the pace following a series of customer wins across the country.

Following 12 months of growth, the cloud specialist took home the Rising Partner honours across Australia and New Zealand, unveiled during the AWS Summit in Sydney.

The award recognises the most promising AWS consulting partner, acknowledging customer success in a relatively short space of time, spanning both sides of the Tasman.

Alongside industry recognition, Consegna - launched to the market in June 2016 - has also become the first New Zealand-based AWS advanced consulting partner to be approved as an AWS managed service (AMS) reseller locally, backed up by AWS service delivery accreditation for Windows on AWS.

Specifically, AMS from AWS is built around ITIL best practices, providing managed service providers with the tooling and automation to increase efficiency, while reducing operational overheads and risks.

“In standing up a managed service offering we wanted to leverage the pace of innovation of the AMS service that AWS provides us,” Consegna managing director, John Taylor, told Reseller News.

“I believe this is a game-changer for the cloud market, through AMS we can quickly reduce operational costs, and it allows our clients to focus their attention towards new opportunities and driving new business growth.”

Furthermore, the service delivery accreditation for Windows on AWS demonstrates that Consegna can reduce customer deployment efforts, through identifying the most appropriate AWS configuration for Windows-based applications.

According to Taylor, such consideration spans cost, performance, security, reliability, support and manageability.

“Our team is dedicated to helping companies achieve their cloud technology goals by leveraging the agility, breadth of services, and pace of innovation that AWS provides,” Taylor added.

“This is a further opportunity for us to help our clients achieve their cloud goals and optimise the delivery of Windows applications running on AWS.”

From a channel perspective, AWS established the service delivery program to help customers identify APN consulting partners housing deep expertise in delivering specific services associated to the vendor’s platform.

“By achieving the Windows on AWS accreditation it helps to differentiate Consegna as an AWS Partner who can provide specialised technical proficiency and proven customer success in delivering Windows applications running on AWS,” Taylor added.

To achieve this accreditation, Taylor said the provider demonstrated “expertise and delivery” of Windows applications solutions “seamlessly” on AWS.

Backing up the credentials, recent projects have included data centre migrations, as well as hybrid cloud deployments that extend existing Windows applications onto AWS.

Delving deeper, Consegna has also deployed secure and specialised Windows workloads in dedicated AWS virtual private clouds, including a number of heritage Windows workloads running on Windows Server 2003, 2008 and SQL Server 2005.

“Whatever the scenario, working with Consegna can speed up the delivery of projects, reduce costs and ensure security by getting it right the first time,” Taylor added.
