Google Cloud hires for channel talent in Auckland

Tech giant actively seeking on-the-ground expertise specific to the Kiwi channel

Google Cloud has offered its largest endorsement of the New Zealand channel to date, through the opening of a partner management role in Auckland.

Reseller News can reveal that the tech giant is actively seeking on-the-ground expertise specific to the Kiwi channel, as global cloud ambitions become local realities.

Under the banner of partner success manager, the candidate will drive Google Cloud business through the vendor’s expanding ecosystem of partners across the country.

Specifically, the candidate will analyse partner business performance, identify methods of increasing partner and Google returns, as well as pitching ideas to and identifying opportunities within partner organisations.

“As our partner success manager, you hold a holistic view of channel business and are responsible for working with different teams within the Google organisation,” the job advert stated.

“This role is unique in its overall responsibility for establishing and maintaining the business execution with Google partners.”

In searching for eight years of experience building partner ecosystems, Google Cloud is also hunting for strong capabilities in cloud platforms, spanning platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS).

Delving deeper, key responsibilities will include leveraging Google resources to drive partner recruitment in New Zealand, backed up by building a “long-term, scalable, channel model”.

Targeting system integrators specifically, preferred qualifications include experience managing partner businesses, by working through pipeline, sales and deployment cycle.

The local channel drive comes less than six months after The Instillery signed a partnership with Google Cloud, leveraging the tech giant’s platform to expand cloud capabilities across New Zealand.

Announced following the Google Cloud Summit in Sydney, the agreement sees the Auckland-based provider become one of the first Kiwi partners to leverage the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) nationwide.

“Partners are a key part of Google Cloud in New Zealand,” Google Cloud Platform head of sales in New Zealand Brendan Bain told Reseller News at the time.

“We are pleased to work with The Instillery to help more people and businesses innovate and deliver services using Google Cloud.”

The Kiwi hire will join a recently appointed heavyweight channel team across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), following the appointment of Rhody Burton as head of partnerships for Google Cloud.

Revealed exclusively by Reseller News, Burton is charged with creating a network of providers capable of challenging for cloud market share on both sides of the Tasman.

Providing further channel credibility is the recent recruitment of CA Technologies and Microsoft expertise, with Kevin Van Gils and Anita Moorhouse also joining the local team.
