Corporate Consumables has closed down operations in New Zealand, with the Wellington-based office supplier shutting its doors after 28 years of business.
Founded in 1989, Kiwi owned and operated business was a supplier of office-related consumables, stationery products and hardware, with offices spanning the breadth of the country.
In a memo sent to customers, and seen by Reseller News, Corporate Consumables ceased trading as of 12pm Friday 22 December 2017, a decision that has been 12 months in the making.
“Unfortunately, a number of factors have combined to create a situation where Corporate Consumables in its current state is unsustainable as a business,” a statement read. “This is not a decision that has been taken lightly.
“Over the last 12 months the directors, management and their advisors have explored every possible option to keep the company trading and return it to profitability.”
However, company directors decided that the risk and expense involved in attempting to modernise and restructure the business, in what is now an “incredibly competitive industry”, is “just too high”, making ceasing trading the “only responsible course of action”.
Going forward, Reseller News understands that the organisation will be “proactively managing” any outstanding business from 8 January 2018.
“We have very much valued the relationship and support you have provided Corporate Consumables over the years,” a company statement added.
“The directors and management of Corporate Consumables would like to thank you for your business.”
