Just over six months after being appointed as Cylance’s local channel head, Jason Duerden has been named as the company’s new country manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Effective immediately, Duerden will lead the company’s operations across the A/NZ region, reporting to the cyber security vendor’s executive vice president, global sales and operations, John Giacomini.
The company revealed in June that it had charged Duerden with running its local channel strategy, following a number of key executive departures in A/NZ.
Now, as country manager, Duerden is responsible for driving Cylance’s growth momentum throughout the region, and supporting its marketing, engineering, sales, channel, threat research and consulting teams in the local market.
Duerden, who previously held local leadership roles with Acquion, will also be tasked with executing Cylance’s global strategy in A/NZ.
“Jason has proven himself to be an incredibly capable executive and a natural leader, responsible for driving Cylance’s success in the ANZ market in 2017,” Giacomini said. “His passion for Cylance’s technology and support of the company’s mission to secure every endpoint across the globe will anchor our commitment to the region moving forward.”
The appointment comes as Cylance works to deepen its investment in the A/NZ market, with the additional hire of former FireMon talent, Rob Collins, as regional sales engineering director, A/NZ.
The new hires come after a series of departures earlier this year, with the company’s director of sales engineering, Greg Singh, and head of channels, Lani Edwards, both exiting the vendor.
Further, the company’s APAC chief, Andy Solterbeck, also left the vendor and moved to KPMG.
In addition, Cylance parted ways with Hue Oh, its APAC marketing manager, who has moved to a new role at former Dell subsidiary, SonicWall.
Now, however, the company is eyeing substantial traction in A/NZ, claiming that it has seen 450 per cent customer growth and 1,323 per cent revenue growth in the region from 2016 to 2017.
