The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) is working on a new all-of-government site, tools and services to support digital transformation in the public sector.

Digital.govt.nz aims to create a single source f truth by integrating content from ICT.govt.nz and the New Zealand WebToolkit.govt.nz, and new features such as automated quality assurance for content, and building in API capability.

Once that is complete, the old websites will be shuttered.

The project team says in a blog post it is working with content owners and stakeholders mapping out the information architecture, ensuring content meets meet NZ Web Standards and is managed effectively.

The team includes people from DIA’s Government Information Services (GIS), the Relationship Management team, the product owner for the Common Web Platform (CWP), Communications, the Service and System Transformation group, and the Service Delivery and Operations group.

They are now talking to stakeholders to see if the information architecture is right, get ideas about needs and functionality, and test labelling.

Digital.govt.nz is being built on CWP, a platform-as-a-service offering for the creation and hosting of government websites. The minimal viable product will go-live this December.

Ideas being explored include distributed authorship to makes it easy for content owners to add and update content within the information architecture, a colllaboration space, automation and content APIs.

Meanwhile, the DIA's service innovation team have received the green light to work nn supporting a more integrated approach to service delivery across government, on the back of our Government as a Platform (GaaP) work.

"We are really excited to be forming a core team of service designers, technical ninjas, data and analysis experts, and strategic experts to drive service innovation exemplars and support service delivery teams across government," a blog post from the team says.
