Harris to depart as Chorus restructures executive team

A focus on the customer is behind changes at the top of Chorus, says CEO Kate McKenzie.

Chorus chief commercial officer Tim Harris will leave the company as part of an executive reshuffle announced today.

The new structure reflected an ongoing focus on improving customer experience at the network operator and wholesaler, Chorus chief executive Kate McKenzie said.

Former Spark and Fletcher Building executive Scott Newton will also be appointed into a new role of general manager, strategy and business operations.

“I would like to thank Tim Harris for his significant contribution during a period of enormous change inside Chorus over the last three years," McKenzie said. "I wish him all the best for the future."

Harris said Chorus’ refreshed strategy has brought the company closer to its retail service provider and end customers over the last three years and driven demand across New Zealand for better broadband. 

“It’s now time for the company to move to the next phase and I wish the team every success for the future.”

Scott joins Chorus from Fletcher Building where he is currently group general manager, transformation. Before that he was the turnaround lead at Spark.

His team will run the Chorus programme of work, helping drive programme disciplines, the prioritisation of initiatives and continuous improvement, McKenzie said.

A new executive role, GM customer care, position will also be created as part of the changes.

McKenzie, formerly COO at Telstra, took over from Mark Ratcliffe as Chorus' CEO in February.
