Trans-Tasman sales manager departs after almost two years.

George De Bono has exited as general manager of sales across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) at rhipe, departing the cloud distributor after almost two years.

After joining Melbourne-based business in September 2015, De Bono was tasked with driving sales on both sides of the Tasman, working with service providers, system integrators and software vendors.

“I’m proud of what we have been able to achieve in my time at rhipe, and I leave the business in the knowledge that it is well placed for the future,” De Bono told ARN. “As for me, I'm taking a short sabbatical.”

With over 25 years of technology experience, De Bono has worked across A/NZ, Asia Pacific, North America, Middle East and African markets, following management roles at Red Hat, Software AG and Dell.

"George is a great guy and a true professional,” rhipe CEO Dominic O’Hanlon told ARN. “We wish him all our best in his future endeavours.”

Due to ongoing growth across the local business, O’Hanlon said the distributor has appointed two sales managers to service to Australian market, alongside further investment in New Zealand operations.

As a result, Matt Dewsnap and Sandhya Vaishnav have been appointed as respective territory sales managers for Northern and Southern regions in Australia.

Across the Tasman, Auckland-based Philip Jones has been appointed of global head of support operations for the business, while Amy Knox is returning to the business after departing in April 2016.

“We expect FY18 to be a very exciting year and we are grateful for the talent that rhipe is able to attract and retain to help in our ongoing growth aspirations,” O’Hanlon added.

The internal changes follow news of a worldwide partnership with Microsoft, with the vendor appointing rhipe as a globally managed licensing partner.

As reported by ARN, the move builds on a longstanding relationship with the vendor, making rhipe one of just eight globally managed partners in the vendor’s channel ecosystem, and the only one to be headquartered in the Asia Pacific region.
