Datacom has been recognised as the leading Veritas partner in New Zealand, with the data management vendor recognising innovation and excellence on both sides of the Tasman.

Revealed under the Vivid lights in Sydney, Brisbane-based partner Intalock claimed the overall Partner of the Year 2017 (Pacific) award, with fellow Queenslander Data#3 acknowledged for 12 months of strong growth across the market.

Meanwhile, Global Storage and Insentra claimed service provider and consulting awards respectively, Dicker Data was recognised as the standout distributor of the year, while Hitachi Data Systems claimed the alliance partner award.

“Veritas locally has just wrapped up a stellar year of growth in FY17,” Veritas managing director A/NZ Louis Tague said.

“The support and commitment shown by our amazing channel partners has been instrumental in this success. We have the privilege of collaborating with some truly passionate and inspiring individuals and organisations.”

Contributing to Veritas’ growth has been global strategic partnerships with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft and Google, as the data management vendor ramps up its channel efforts in the cloud.

“Our focus for FY18 is on working even more closely with our partner ecosystem to build on this amazing momentum,” Veritas director of channels A/NZ Janet Docherty added.

“An example of this approach is we recently held our first local Veritas Partner Advisory Council. This involves Veritas taking guidance on how we can best jointly go-to-market and fine tune our customer offerings. We’re very excited by the potential of this local initiative.

“The market is changing more rapidly than ever before - particularly in the area of cloud and the accelerating shift to an annuity model for partners. This presents challenges, but also lots of untapped opportunity for our partner ecosystem as we continue to work together.”

Sizing up the NZ security spectrum - Where's the channel sweet spot?

From new extortion schemes, outside threats and rising cyber attacks, the art of securing the enterprise has seldom been so complex or challenging. With distance no longer a viable defence, Kiwi businesses are fighting to stay ahead of the security curve. In total, 28 per cent of local businesses faced a cyber attack last year, with the number in New Zealand set to rise in 2017. Yet amidst the sensationalism, media headlines and ongoing high profile breaches, confusion floods the channel, as partners seek strategic methods to combat rising sophistication from attackers. In sizing up the security spectrum, this Reseller News roundtable - in association with F5 Networks, Kaspersky Lab, Tech Data, Sophos and SonicWall - assessed where the channel sweet spot is within the New Zealand channel.
