EXCLUSIVE: Accelerating Aruba in NZ…

Hewlett Packard Enterprise division aims to build on the company’s double digital growth of 2015.

Aruba Networks aims to build on the company’s double digital growth of 2015, as the Hewlett Packard Enterprise division prepares to outpace the local industry and gain “significant market share”.

Fresh from appointing former ViFX CEO, Andrew Fox, to the role of Country Manager of New Zealand - as reported exclusively by Reseller News - the networking vendor is continuing to close new local deals in its pursuit of accelerated growth.

“Business in New Zealand is growing well and as the market becomes increasingly mobility-savvy, the potential is enormous,” says Fox, when speaking exclusively to Reseller News.

“We have grown our New Zealand team in the last year and are providing mobility solutions to the two largest schools in this market, Rangitoto and Avondale, as well the likes of Trustpower.”

Yet according to Fox, Aruba remains a “reasonably well-kept secret in New Zealand”, despite its global standing as a leading provider of wireless LAN and networking equipment.

“I’m personally focused on high-growth and taking market share,” he says.

“This will mean a careful selection of key channel partners, plus a focus on education and enablement in conjunction with our distributors to get the good news out there.

“Finally, it’s about ensuring that the experience each customer receives is second to none.”

Fox says Aruba services many verticals across New Zealand, from education to SMBs, retail and hospitality.

“I am eager to work across this broad spectrum of clientele, working with a variety of customers and providing the best business solution,” he adds.

“The potential to transform retail and education through mobility, specifically captured my imagination.”

As reported by Reseller News in March 2015, the $US2.7 billion acquisition of Aruba Networks in then HP's networking business, if managed properly, could be a key strategic move for the tech giant.

“HPE acquired Aruba, seeing value in its best-of-breed wireless infrastructure, policy management and enterprise mobility solutions,” Fox adds.

“Armed with the combined networking portfolio, the business has both globally and in New Zealand, gone from strength to strength and has now reached the point where further local investment was required to meet demand.”

Consequently, Fox will no doubt be charged with helping Hewlett Packard Enterprise close the widening gap between itself and Cisco from a next generation network access solution point of view.

In addition, Fox will be tasked with managing the vendor’s ongoing OEM and joint partnerships with vendors like Alcatel-Lucent, Dell, Juniper and Brocade, which has been touted as a strong challenge for Aruba following the acquisition.

In citing the “explosion of mobile and the Internet of Things”, Fox says he was lured to Aruba by how “clever mobility solutions” can transform businesses and provide a new way of working.

“Aruba’s vision of the workplace of the future, together with the ability to provide businesses with the tools and technology to manage digital disruption in the workplace attracted me to the role,” he adds.

Having previously held the CEO role at infrastructure and cloud provider ViFX in New Zealand, Fox now has responsibility for the Hewlett Packard Enterprise business nationwide, including technical sales, pre-sales, customer delivery and satisfaction.

Before ViFX, Fox was General Manager of Global Technology Services at IBM, leading a team providing data centre hosting, IT outsourcing, cloud services, implementation and maintenance services to New Zealand’s top businesses.

During his time at IBM, Fox also worked as a Manager of Systems and Technology, and is also currently Director of Jumping Fox Interactive, a niche B2B marketing agency operating out of New Zealand.
