Synnex has been named a distribution partner of elastic interconnection services company, Megaport.

As per the terms of the agreement, Synnex will distribute Megaport’s Elastic Interconnection platform, which includes its Cloud networking services, Virtual Cross Connect (VXC) services, and Internet Exchange services through the Synnex Cloud Automation Platform in A/NZ.

Megaport is an Amazon AWS technology partner, Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute partner and Asia’s first Google Cloud interconnection partner.

The distribution agreement follows Megaport’s recent global reseller agreement with Fujitsu and Synnex’s recent deals with Jabra, Barracuda Networks, Razer, and Act-On.

Synnex A/NZ CEO, Kee Ong, said the company is providing channel partners access to Megaport’s interconnection services using the Synnex Cloud Automation Platform to instantly provision and establish secure connections from any of the “Megaported” datacentre locations.

Currently, Megaport is operational in seven metropolitan markets in Asia-Pacific – Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Hong Kong, and Singapore – and connects a variety of major datacentres including Equinix, NEXTDC and Global Switch facilities among others.

“With Megaport’s Elastic Interconnection Fabric, our Synnex channel partners can establish a dedicated and secure connection to Microsoft Azure, Office365, Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services, among other service providers.

“Our channel partners can provision Megaport’s physical ports, Virtual Cross Connect services and Internet Exchange services using the Synnex Cloud Automation platform," he said.

"The benefits to the end client are lower latency, faster access and secure connections to the cloud on a pay as you go model."

Synnex Australia e-commerce and Cloud services general manager, Michael Tea, said its channel partners can benefit from the recent partnerships it has inked.

“With the recent appointment of Synnex to the Microsoft CSP (Cloud Solution Provider) program and the Megaport partnership, we will offer secure connections using the Megaport API’s to Express Route for Office 365 and Azure services on a monthly subscription model," he added.

“Channel partners can also deploy Barracuda’s NextGen Firewall F to secure Express Route offering their end clients a comprehensive solution for a safer Cloud."

Megaport CEO, Denver Maddux, said using its power portal or API, customers can provision direct connectivity to its broad ecosystem of service providers.

“We are pleased to partner with Synnex to empower its channel partners with interconnection capabilities," he added.

"The ability for enterprises to take control of their Cloud connectivity in a real-time fashion simplifies the adoption of public and hybrid Cloud architectures."

Yet amidst the sensationalism, media headlines and ongoing high profile breaches, confusion floods the channel, as partners seek strategic methods to combat rising sophistication from attackers.
