Citrix collaborates with Red Hat in the name of OpenStack clouds

“Customers choose OpenStack because they want a truly open, production-ready platform for building their public or private clouds."

Citrix has unveiled the integration and certification of its market application delivery controller, NetScaler, with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform.

According to both parties, the collaboration comes as customers continue to be faced with the challenge of scaling OpenStack deployments and looking for production-grade infrastructure that supports the demands of business.

Consequently, customers can now assemble cloud infrastructures using components from Citrix and Red Hat, designed to provide customers with access to a broader portfolio of products to further boost the performance and scale provided by Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform deployments.

“Citrix is committed to providing customers with unparalleled flexibility and choice as they build their data centres with best of breed technology, including OpenStack,” says Nand Mulchandani, Vice President of Market Development, Delivery Networks, Citrix.

“Red Hat is well recognised as a leader in the OpenStack community, and Red Hat OpenStack customers can now use the market-leading NetScaler platform to ensure the scalability, availability and security of their workloads.”

NetScaler is used as core infrastructure for some of the largest cloud providers in the world.

For Mulchandani, this announcement brings the power of networking infrastructure solutions to customers choosing to build clouds on OpenStack.

Earlier this year, Citrix joined the Open Stack Foundation with a view towards supporting industry and customer initiatives in building highly scalable public and private clouds.

As customers drive towards building fully-integrated “lights-out data centres” with minimal manual configuration and intervention, Mulchandani believes this integration offers fully automated control over services through a single control point - the newly available NetScaler Control Centre.

“Customers choose OpenStack because they want a truly open, production-ready platform for building their public or private clouds,” adds Radhesh Balakrishnan, General Manager, OpenStack, Red Hat.

“By working together with Citrix, NetScaler is now certified to work with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform and offers customers the rich capabilities of NetScaler for workload availability, security, scalability, and performance.”

Balakrishnan says NetScaler Control Center offers customers the ability to deploy complex configurations including clustering, all managed through a single management control pane.
