Zendesk has appointed Brett Adam as managing director for Zendesk in Australia and New Zealand, a move designed to support the entire regional team as it looks toward continued local growth across enterprise.
Further to the appointment, the company also revealed that Adam will also take up the role of vice president for engineering to lead the company’s growing Asia Pacific development team based in Melbourne.
Returning to Melbourne after more than 20 years in the United States, Adam will be responsible for the Melbourne development team and Zendesk’s local team of more than 60 people in Australia and New Zealand.
“Our investment in a local development team allows us to attract top engineers and developers and to continue to build innovative new products,” Adam says.
“We’ve hired great engineers in Melbourne and have expanded the skills base of the team, adding operations, data engineering and creative.
“Our expanding product development means that we’re looking for more talented local developers and engineers to further strengthen our capabilities.”
Zendesk’s development team has grown considerably since it opened in Melbourne in 2011, driven by the strength of local developer talent.
The APAC team in Melbourne has been responsible for several integral global product developments for Zendesk and across Asia Pacific, the company currently works with enterprise customers including Lonely Planet, the REA Group, LJ Hooker, Cotton On and New Zealand Post.
Adam joins Zendesk with a long history of engineering and development leadership, most recently at CA Technologies where he was the senior vice president of software engineering for security products and led the development of the CA SaaS Operating Platform.
Prior to joining CA, Brett spent more than 10 years in CTO and senior engineering leadership roles from Silicon Valley to North Carolina.
Zendesk has also appointed Sandie Overtveld to a regional role, who joins the company as vice president of sales for Asia Pacific and Japan.
Based in Zendesk's Singapore office, Overtveld is responsible for leading Zendesk's revenue growth in the region.
The sales and customer success teams already based in Japan, Australia, Singapore and the Philippines are being doubled this quarter to prepare for Zendesk expansion into additional Asian countries in the second half of the year.

With more than 25 years’ international management experience in the software industry, Overtveld joins Zendesk from his most recent role as general manager Asia Pacific and Japan for the Microsoft Dynamics Service Line at Hewlett-Packard.
Prior to this, Overtveld was at Microsoft as general manager APAC for the Dynamics Business Applications.
