Revera bolsters NZ hybrid offering with VMware cloud move

"Revera has been quietly working to address our clients’ growing preference for mixing and matching cloud services."

Cloud services provider Revera has partnered with VMware to deliver a New Zealand gateway to the virtualisation and cloud infrastructure giant’s VMware vCloud Air public cloud.

The partnership connects Revera’s New Zealand-based Homeland Cloud IaaS platform to VMware’s Australian public cloud data centres, and paves the way for Revera clients to mix and match public and private infrastructure and DR services.

Revera’s head of innovation Keith Archibald says clients were moving to split applications and data between providers, and it was incumbent on local cloud services providers to offer multiple cloud formats and tools to manage them.

"Revera has been quietly working to address our clients’ growing preference for mixing and matching cloud services," he says.

"Partnering global suppliers and delivering slick integration provides our clients with a simple dashboard to buy and manage multi-sourced cloud services."

Archibald says connecting to VMware vCloud Air through Revera’s Homeland Cloud would appeal to local businesses with trans-Tasman infrastructure requirements.

“Flexibility is key, and customers can decide on which side of the Tasman they want to activate core infrastructure and DR services,” he adds.

Bi-directional workflow between Revera’s Homeland IaaS platform and vCloud Air was controlled by VMware vCloud Director – a management layer that delivered a consistent experience across both public and private platforms.

"The expansion of VMware vCloud Air to Revera in New Zealand marks another major milestone in the global build-out of our hybrid cloud service," adds Duncan Bennet, ‎Vice President & Managing Director, VMware A/NZ.

"As a vCloud Air Network Premier Service Provider Partner, Revera delivers fast and easy access to public cloud and best in class in-country cloud services."

Revera has operated VMware virtualisation technology for a decade under the VMware Service Provider Programme and more recently vCloud Air Network.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
