NZ Channel Backs The BlackCaps!

From Ingram Micro to Synnex, Connector Systems to Exeed and Microsoft to HP - the channel offers messages of support to the BlackCaps... #BacktheBlackCaps

In sending the finest fast bowler on the planet into the stands with the game’s penultimate ball, Grant Elliott brought a nation to its feet.

High, handsome and over wide long-on, the BlackCaps capped off a pulsating semi-final to secure their place in the ICC Cricket World Cup Final, leaving 4.5 million Kiwis still catching their breath following their Eden Park heroics.

But now the real test starts, as New Zealand crosses the Tasman Sea to take on great rivals Australia in Melbourne on Sunday.

It’ll be the first time the BlackCaps have left their country during the tournament, leading to messages of support from the channel market back home, as Brendon McCullum and his men try to write themselves into history.

For Mark Dasent, Managing Director, Connector Systems, the semi-final victory “was truly the best live sporting occasion I have ever witnessed.”

“It’s even more memorable for me given that I purchased World Cup Finals tickets over two month agos as a surprise for my 14 year old son’s birthday,” he adds.

“I can’t wait for the final now and wish the Black Caps all the best for this momentous occasion!”

Over at Ingram Micro New Zealand, Managing Director Gary Bigwood admits “cricket fever is the building” at the distributor’s North Shore office.

“A number of our staff have been taking leave over the last few weeks to attend as many games as possible,” he says.

“Quite a number were in the crowd on Tuesday night at Eden Park and were equally tired and excited the following morning, what an event.

“And a lucky few were confident enough to book tickets to the final many months back, and their faith has been rewarded, go the Black Caps!

“We wish the Black Caps an unbeaten run of 9 games to accomplish the mission “ICC Cricket World Champions of 2015.”

Echoing Bigwood’s comments, Exeed chief Justin Tye admits the distributor was “at a standstill” as Mcullum opening the innings on Tuesday evening.

“He set the scene nicely for the drama that was about to unfold,” he recalls. “Exeed is cricket mad company so we’re all incredibly proud of what the BlackCaps achieved last night.

“No matter what the outcome at the main event on Sunday, the journey to get the final has been one of the most memorable sporting performances we have witnessed.”

Chipping in with a bit of sporting history, Richard Harri, Country Manager, Synnex New Zealand reminds Brendon McCullum and the boys to “not forget the underarm bowl of Trevor Chappell, 1981.”

“Good luck boys!” he adds, from Team Synnex New Zealand.

Despite belonging to a global company, HP New Zealand is wholeheartedly behind the boys, with Oliver Hill, Commercial Sales Manager, adding a bit of family flavour to the event.

“The Staff at HP are very proud of the Black Caps and will all be sitting up late on Sunday night watching on the edge of our seats,” he says.

“Plus our HP Carepack Product Manager; Logan Williamson who is Kane’s brother will be heading over to Melbourne to cheer him on at the MCG!”

Over at Microsoft New Zealand headquarters, Warwick Grey- Senior Partner Sales Executive – Distribution has been “keenly following” the scores in all Black Caps’ matches as they happen, with more of the same expected for Sunday.

“My eyes will be glued to the action for the final this weekend, and my fingers will be crossed hoping for a win,” he says.

“Go Black Caps! Everyone at Microsoft New Zealand is behind you!”

A testament shared by newly appointed Brocade New Zealand Country Manager Andy Miller, who “can’t wait to see the BlackCaps beat the Aussies.”

“And much like the rest of New Zealand, I will be spending Sunday evening in front of the TV!”

Win or lose, Monday morning will no doubt be a quiet one for many Kiwis with sore heads and weary eyes, so kick back, relax and read ChannelBeat Bulletin from your bed - just this once…
