Regional expansion tipped as Silver Peak aims to "aggressively recruit" channel partners

Silver Peak has appointed Doug Farndale as vice president Asia-Pacific, tasked with driving the expansion of the company's WAN optimisation and software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) business across the region.

Leveraging his three decades of extensive networking and telecommunications experience, Farndale will lead operations, channel partnerships and sales for Silver Peak in the region.

Throughout his career, Farndale has held senior positions in sales, engineering, product management, business development, marketing, alliances, and services.

Based in Singapore for 15 years and operating across APAC, Australia and New Zealand for 22 years, recently he worked closely with various start-ups focused on public and hybrid cloud solutions.

“According to leading analysts, the APAC region will experience the highest global growth in the WAN optimisation market over the next four years,” Farndale says.

"Silver Peak is expanding its efforts to capitalise on this and the emerging SD-WAN opportunity in the region, where virtualisation and cloud have already seen growth and widespread adoption."

Earlier in his career, Farndale set up the APAC-Japan cloud services strategy for Cisco, prior to which he worked for StrataCom.

He has also held engineering, pre-sales and management roles in Europe with Texas Instruments and Case Communications.

“We will aggressively recruit competent channel partners to address the SD-WAN growth opportunity," Farndale adds.

"Silver Peak’s WAN and virtualisation pedigree are delivering cost-efficiencies and opening the door for new deployment models that will benefit enterprises, service providers and channel partners throughout APAC."
