Christchurch Consultancy flies to the cloud with Montage Online

“We began to have the same conversation with our clients. They no longer wanted ‘out of the box’, ineffective solutions that were designed for someone else."

Montage Professional Services has launched Montage Online, signalling the expansion of the Christchurch-based Business Intelligence firm’s solutions to include business process improvement software and services.

In the first 18 months alone, nine clients are already using the online solution, ranging from nine employees to just under 500, with all clients using the system in vastly different ways.

Given the growth has been consistent and sustainable, the company is now on the look for more staff, and is keen to expand its 25 employee base.

Montage Online is a web-based application framework that can be configured to streamline specific business processes, resolving issues such as health and safety, HR functions, KPI management, recruitment and employment contract generation, as well as expense claims and inventory requests and transfers.

Developed in-house after years of working for other vendors where client-specific requirements were too often greeted with a “no” or require a development team, Montage Online is designed for “rapid implementation” by consultants who know and understand the business, without expensive development resource or large project teams and the possibility of miscommunication around exact requirements.

“We began to have the same conversation with our clients,” says Simon Lind, Practice Lead, Montage. “They no longer wanted ‘out of the box’, ineffective solutions that were designed for someone else.

“They wanted to be involved in the design of how the system would be configured for their business processes – without the limitation of a predefined process.”

Lind says the Montage Online solution can be used for any business process requiring some level of approval or particular workflow steps and was originally designed with human resource departments in mind.

But thanks to client demand and solution flexibility, the solution is now being used widely throughout businesses, in primary industries such as seed production, fruit orchards, and fisheries through to telecommunications and construction.

"We say; ‘We're starting with a blank piece of paper’,” Lind adds. “Tell us where you are now, where you want to get to, and share your vision on how you want to run your business and we'll help you get there.

“We don't pretend to know the clients’ business. Every company needs a system that can grow and adapt with them without preconceived ideas or perceptions. That’s our vision."
