Australians value DevOps: Rackspace

Managed Cloud Provider sees strong local interest in DevOps creating business opportunities.

Rackspace has found Australian organisations are ahead of the curve in understanding DevOps.

General manager, Angus Dorney, said local companies understand the business benefits of implementing a streamlined approach to IT and development teams.

“There’s clarity in the way they set goals around their DevOps activities,” he said.

Dorney points to a recent survey carried about by Rackspace that found 86 per cent of Australian businesses have or are planning to implement DevOps practices.

“The 72 per cent of businesses without a current DevOps strategy plan on implementing one by the end of 2017,” he said.

The pursuit of agility

Dorney said the local understanding and interest in DevOps indicates an opportunity for DevOps services and expertise.

“We’ve seen strong demand for our DevOps automation service, which comes with support from experienced engineers who will help deploy and manage applications in the Cloud,” he said.

Incorporating a DevOps mindset and approach is also useful in capturing the benefits offered by the Cloud.

“The onset of the Cloud gives organisations the opportunity to radically improve their speed and flexibility through technology,” Dorney said.

Dorney recommends organisations look into DevOps and read case studies to understand what services are in the market, and how they can be used to improve speed and agility of the business.
