Ed Hyde shifts to lead recently-created data analytics brand

Seasoned Telecom (now Spark) executive, Ed Hyde, has been shifted to lead Spark Ventures’ (formerly Telecom Digital Ventures) recently-launched data, analytics and applications business, Qrious (pronounced Curious), as chief executive officer (CEO).

Hyde’s move comes after eight years in several senior roles at Telecom prior to its August 2014 rebranding to Spark; he joined the company in 2006 as head of channels, before moving into strategic, corporate development, and mobility roles.

Before Telecom, Hyde spent four years at Yes Telecom as commercial director, which was preceded by a two-year stint with Townley Communications as operations manager.

According to Spark Ventures CEO, Rod Snodgrass, Hyde was selected to lead the new, independent brand on the back of his strategic, product, and commercial experience, and his ability to challenge the status quo.

The appointment comes as Qrious prepares to expand its footprint.

Commenting on his appointment, Hyde said, “We are living in a new digital age, where the smart use of data is an exploding global phenomena. It’s rapidly changing the way people live and do business.”

“Significant benefits can be derived from the combination of information, the insights that can be gleaned from that information, and the application of those insights into valuable action.”

Qrious is a Cloud-based platform which provides the public sector and other companies to privately host data and combine it with publicly-available information for insights. The Qrious team assists clients with using this data to create value.

Since its March creation, it has released its Data Locker, a Cloud-based platform-as-a-service (PaaS) for Big Data, Qrious Business Information, Qrious Analytics (a data science capability), and the Insights Exchange.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
