Riverbed consolidates technologies into performance management platform

Networking vendor also reworks training and certification program to better support the channel.

Riverbed has reorganised and rebranded its range of advanced technologies into a performance management platform to better appeal to the channel.

A/NZ alliances director, Reuben Bennett, said the reorganisation is the culmination of the company’s investments in adjacent and non-core fields after just focusing on WAN optimisation.

“Our newer technologies look at application performance as a whole, taking into account the entire service catalogue that delivers an application experience to the user,” he said.

Riverbed works exclusively with the channel, and Bennett said partners and resellers are seeing value in having a performance platform for their organisation.

“A systems integrator may want to sell Cloud services to a customer, and one of the things they want to be able to provide is not just the platform but also an experience,” he said.

Organisations also want to gain more from their service provider than “just capacity and availability metrics.”

“They’re now starting to ask for some form of visibility and commitment to an application experience, and we’re allowing those system integrators to give those guarantees,” Bennett said.

Skilling up the channel

With the introduction of the performance management platform, Riverbed’s training and certification program has also been expanded.

Bennett said it now spans new technologies such as storage and application delivery, as well as application monitoring and reporting.

“There are now a series of certifications where organisations go and get qualified in those technologies, and get the benefits of being a certified partner in those technologies,” he said.

Not only is there a financial incentive to skill up, Bennett said partners and resellers are looking forward to accessing newer technologies in order to “craft the end user experience.”

“It’s not just about the WAN optimisation, but about the entire architecture,” he said.

Malwarebytes shoots the breeze with channel, prospects

A Kumeu, Auckland, winery was the venue for a Malwarebytes event for partner and prospect MSPs - with some straight shooting on the side. The half-day getaway, which featured an archery competition, lunch and wine-tasting aimed at bringing Malwarebytes' local New Zealand and top and prospective MSP partners together to celebrate recent local successes, and discuss the current state of malware in New Zealand. This was also a unique opportunity for local MSPs to learn about how they can get the most out of Malwarebytes' MSP program and offering, as more Kiwi businesses are targeted by malware.
