Former VMware exec will be responsible for Autonomy and Vertica, among other technology

HP has appointed Paul Chapman, former VP for global infrastructure and cloud operations at VMware, as CIO of its software business.

As CIO of HP Software, Chapman is responsible for the IT organisation supporting the development and delivery of IT solutions for HP Software, according to his LinkedIn profile. Businesses in the division include the controversial Autonomy, a British firm formerly owned by Dr Mike Lynch, Vertica, IT management and Enterprise Security.

He will report to HP's global CIO Ramon Baez.
