Observatory Crest wins Tintri distribution deal

Australian distributor appointed to grow vendor’s presence among value-added resellers

Californian flash storage vendor, Tintri, has signed Observatory Crest as its first distributor in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ).

Observatory Crest is a Sydney-based value-added distributor (VAD) founded in 2004.

Tintri Asia-Pacific (APAC) channels and marketing director, Roger Mannet, told ARN the vendor opted for Observatory Crest because "it has a strong number of Cloud and managed services providers (MSPs) which aligns well with our strategic direction."

Mannet added that Observatory Crest has a strong team and as newcomers, Tintri intends to capitalise on the distributor's strong cross-Tasman capabilities.

The distributor’s role in the partnership is to introduce Tintri to its value-added reseller (VAR) partners, and subsequently provide assistance and support in regards to the vendor’s portfolio.

According to a statement, Observatory Crest entered the agreement to boost its virtualisation play.

“We see Tintri as a key ecosystem partner in the virtualisation IT segment,” Observatory Crest director, Jack Sabo, said. “It was important for us to select a storage solution capable of supporting virtualisation projects of all kinds.”

“Tintri has developed an impressive product and we believe that it will be extremely well-received by customers seeking to broaden their virtual deployments.”

Tintri claims it experienced global triple digit growth year-over-year and expects this trend to continue.

This partnership follows the global launch of the Tintri Partner Program Expansion.

Introduced in April, the program intends to accommodate for Tintri’s reseller network by way of joint channel development and business planning, an exclusive partner portal, deal registration, co-marketing, training, and technical support.
