Kaspersky secures virtualisation with Light Agent

Turns to the channel to educate customers about security for virtualisation

Kaspersky is aiming to turn security for virtualisation into a must-have feature with its new product, Light Agent.

The virtualisation security solution is designed to provide advanced protection on platforms such as VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft.

While Australian businesses are aware of security for virtualisation, Kaspersky A/NZ managing director, Andrew Mamonitis, said it is often viewed as “an option” and “add-on feature” rather than a core priority.

“The challenge is to be able to deliver an itemised understanding across to Australian businesses of how all the key security features apply to virtualisation,” he said.

By bringing Light Agent to Australia, Mamonitis hopes it will demonstrate how much of the security policies and business aspects within the virtualisation space can be maintained.

Kaspersky also aims to make use of the channel to spread the message about the importance of security in virtualisation.

“The channel has a big role in redefining the various aspects of virtualisation by putting forward solutions which balance the key considerations that businesses must grapple with when formulating security policies,” Mamonitis said.

Securing the virtual

For partners and resellers, the appeal of Light Agent is that it broadens the scope in which the channel can extend security offerings.

“It aims to respond to the key issues put forward by customers when considering security solutions,” Mamonitis said.

When assessing the prospects for Light Agent in Australia, Mamonitis expects an uptake by the local education and government sectors.

The security vendor also expects the solution to gain momentum across key business sectors, potentially becoming a market leader in the virtualisation space.

“The fact that most Australian businesses are working towards more active security policies provides us with an avenue to promote the full suite of features and benefits that come with Light Agent,” Mamonitis said.
