Fortinet Australia brings back road show for resellers

Security vendor also introduces online training program

After not holding one last quarter, Fortinet Australia has resumed its national road show.

Channel manager, Genevieve White, said the event was reintroduced to educate partners around advanced threat protection and its new security products.

“It is an opportunity for the engineering team to deliver technical messages to our partner community around the benefits and the changes in our products,” she said.

The value Fortinet sees in road shows is to providing partners with a direct point of contact with the security vendor, as well as an opportunity for networking amongst themselves.

In addition to the road show, Fortinet has introduced a free online training program globally that has also rolled out to Australia.

Before introducing this real time online training, Fortinet educated partners via classroom based courses.

Regional response

White said the cost of sending partners to the classroom based training was inhibitive for resellers, particularly for those in regional areas.

“It was quite a commitment for an SMB reseller to take somebody out of the field to send them to a training session,” she said.

Based on the feedback from partners, the security vendor spent the last 12 months ammending some of those courses to present them in a modular format online.

White said the response to the online program has been positive response so far, with 80 users a day globally requesting access to it.

While Fortinet is open to recruiting new partners, White said the road show and online training are mainly designed to support existing resellers.

“In order to be successful, we need our channel partners to have a level of technical expertise they’re comfortable with,” she said.
