Grow Wellington to promote capital at CeBit Sydney

Five Wellington ICT companies – Jig Lab, Posboss, Rabid, Smart Show and WatchMyGear – have partnered with Grow Wellington to be ambassadors for the capital at CeBit Sydney.

Grow Wellington is heading across the ditch next week to spearhead a Wellington presence at Sydney’s CeBit Technology Event.

Five Wellington ICT companies – Jig Lab, Posboss, Rabid, Smart Show and WatchMyGear – have partnered with Grow Wellington to be ambassadors for the capital at the annual event, which attracts over 30,000 people from Australia and beyond.

CeBIT is on in Sydney from 5 to 7 May.

The initiative is part of the Destination Wellington programme funded by Wellington City Council and delivered in partnership with Grow Wellington and Positively Wellington, which aims to attract business, talent and investment to the Wellington region.

Melissa Davies, Grow Wellington’s GM for business attraction said, "We will be telling the Wellington business story to key decision makers in Australian ICT businesses in the hope of attracting more business, investment and talent to the capital”.

“Wellington is a hub of innovation and technology, with a real culture of collaboration,” said Davies. “It’s also 20 per cent more cost effective to run a business here compared to other global cities.”

Wellington City Councillor Jo Coughlan, who chairs the council’s Economic Growth and Arts Committee said, “Wellington has New Zealand’s largest number of fastest growing high tech companies. Telling this high tech capital story at CeBIT is a great way to promote Wellington as fantastic place to live, work and do business.”

Besides exhibiting at CeBIT, Grow Wellington will also be hosting networking functions and a dinner event targeting Australian ICT decision makers.
