This week on World Tech Update we take you inside the New York Auto Show, where BMW introduced its X5 eDrive concept car.

The plug-in hybrid SUV can drive on electric power alone at speeds of up to 75 miles per hour for up to about 20 miles. As for fuel economy, the SUV should get the equivalent of about 40 miles per gallon. BMW hasn't said how much the X5 eDrive will cost, but said it will be similar to other cars that offer 300-horsepower performance.

BMW wasn't the only automaker going green at the auto show. Toyota's second-generation fuel cell vehicle was on display and we got to go for a ride. Unlike cars that run on gas or batteries, fuel cell vehicles are powered by hydrogen.

Watch our show to see how Toyota's fuel cell vehicle performs on the road.

Other stories we're covering this week:

-- Nokia's handset business will be officially part of the Microsoft family on April 25 when the US$7.2 billion acquisition closes. China was one of the last countries whose regulatory agencies gave a green light to the deal, which was announced about eight months ago. The Microsoft subsidiary will have more than 30,000 employees and former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop at the helm.

-- Netflix reported better-than-expected earnings in the first quarter and added 4 million new streaming subscribers, bringing the total to more than 48 million. The video-streaming company also announced plans to raise prices for new subscribers by $1 to $2 depending on the country.

-- The SpaceX Dragon capsule successfully arrived at the International Space Station on Sunday. The Falcon rocket lifted off late last week, delivering supplies and experiments to the ISS.
